I met this INCREDIBLE family back in May through the wonderfully amazing Keese family (I have talked about them quite a bit on this blog … hehe). Chrisy went to school with Mrs. Keese’s daughter Megan & has seen bunches & bunches of their trueYOU session\u00a0photos. So glad\u00a0this super cute soon to be family of four came my way, as they’re\u00a0the\u00a0reason I’m *thinking* of\u00a0completely restructuring my session offerings\u00a0this summer … haha, and here I thought I had just gotten\u00a0it all right. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

We did an hour-long session in their home, trueYOU style<\/a>, to see if that would be enough time for families who are really wanting this session, but cannot commit to the full session (which is up to 5 hours)!\u00a0Guess what?! Totally works! The\u00a0trueYOU session style is something that I am so unbelievably\u00a0passionate about!! You see, I recently was perusing my own family albums and noticed a common issue\u00a0… our \u00a0poor sweet littles look parentless! Between my husband being in the military\u00a0on back-to-back sea duty tours … which means often\u00a0being deployed, on det, away for some kind of training, or working those lovely\u00a012 on 12 off shifts, since 2002, and me being behind the lens\u00a0… we’re both missing from our “family” albums! It’s so so heartbreaking\u00a0…\u00a0I’m really trying to make more of an effort to get “in” the photos by teaching my kiddos to use my camera. \ud83d\ude42\u00a0And yes, because of my own epic photo fails… I’ve made it my mission in life to provide this service for others!<\/p>\n

How many of you can relate to this? Moms … missing from your family photos because you’re behind the lens? Dads, are you picking up that camera to make sure your sweet wives are in your family photos?? Or vice versa! And what about BOTH of you being in images with each\/all of your children? It’s difficult, isn’t it?\u00a0So many people think that\u00a0family photos have\u00a0to be outdoors at a\u00a0park or some place pretty\u00a0—\u00a0giggling, tickling & snuggling or posing &\u00a0cheesing for holiday card photos — but that’s not ALL they have to be! Yes, there is a time and place for those too (we do them every year in a different state!), and I LOVE shooting those sessions just as much as the next guy\/gal, but being invited into someone’s world and having the opportunity to capture\u00a0the beauty in the mundane of their every day moments\u00a0just … well … that is\u00a0what makes me tick! I got into this photography “thing” when my babies were babies and those are the years where I wish … oh, how I wish that I were IN the photos … nursing my babies, reading to\/with them, napping, baking, making breakfast, snack time, park time, playing games, teaching them to ride a bike, laughing hysterically, snuggling up watching their favorite show … honestly, the list goes on. So now …\u00a0I’m making it my number one priority as a photographer\u00a0to help families all over the Ankeny | Des Moines\u00a0|\u00a0Iowa\u00a0area (ok, I would totally do across America …\u00a0we\u00a0love to travel) by preserving\u00a0those sweet details and fleeting moments that I know you all\u00a0hold dear to your hearts!<\/p>\n

Well, enough chatter … back to this incredible family! I always send my clients a questionnaire to ask what they want to remember about this point in their lives\u00a0…\u00a0this family wanted to remember\u00a0the last days of their daughter being an only child (her baby brother is due this fall),\u00a0the toddler stage, the way she signed “please” when she REALLY wanted something …\u00a0their pregnancy, and really … just spending time together\u00a0like any other day! When I arrived at their\u00a0home, their\u00a0adorable little girl became my new best friend for the day (I love when littles warm right up to me).\u00a0\ud83d\ude42\u00a0Gawsh, she was the sweetest thing … and soooo funny!! <3 After a bit, she went right back into her world, paying little (if any) attention to me and\u00a0I\u00a0completely\u00a0fell in love with them ALL … Lord,\u00a0they share so much love for each other, and it was sooooo\u00a0apparent in how they spoke\u00a0to one another, the looks they shared, the way they touched, etc. Oh, it warmed my heart to pieces! I’m sure you can see it too … just have a peek!<\/p>\n
